Spring SPF Planning: From Head to Toe!
Spring is here (almost)! Technically, it’s 9 days away, beginning Thursday, March 19, at 11:50 P.M. Needless to say, after a very cold winter, we are all looking forward to the warm spring days ahead and the longer sunny afternoons.
We often discuss the importance of applying a daily SPF, as great looking healthy skin starts with consistent protection from ultraviolet radiation. We cannot stress enough that EVERY day, 365 days a year, we should be protecting all exposed areas of skin (especially focusing on the face, neck and chest) with a sunscreen that has at least an SPF 30. While sunscreen is the true MVP, other protective gear like hats, sunglasses, long sleeves, swim shirts, and pants definitely contribute to the success of the team.
Obviously, the gear we choose will depend on our activities and preferences, but most people can find the right apparel they love. We live in a golf community, and while it can get quite warm in North Carolina, people really love the SPF sleeves that they can take on and off. Not only are they protective, but they act as a much appreciated cooling agent!
Fabrics have come a long way in providing SPF protection and allowing a breathable, cooling experience. Some of my favorite SPF swim products come from the Gap Inc. brand, Athleta, which I find to be great looking gear, made for a woman’s body.
